It’s BACK! The 3rd annual Dartmouth Cookie Jam is returning to Grace United Church on Saturday, August 15th from 12:00 to 3:00 PM.
There are two ways to attend:
1. As a BAKER:
Do your cookies bring all the boys to the yard? Do you bake a cookie that could make even the most die-hard of dieters do a double-take? Maybe you’ve got an old family recipe for The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies in the Universe, or maybe you’ve come up with The Cookie to Save Humanity on your own. Even if you just want to bake a bunch of cookies and make some sweet-tooths happy, you’ve come to the right place.
BAKERS are required to bake 26 cookies and bring them to Cookie Jam, ready to give away and eat. In return, they get to browse the offerings of other bakers and fill a box with 12 cookies of their choice to take home.
The competition part is optional. If you choose to participate, two of your cookies will make their way to the judge’s table to compete in one of the following 9 categories:
1) Best Twist on a Tradition
2) Best Gluten Free
3) Best Chocolate Chip
4) Best Decorated Cookie
5) Best Unexpected Ingredient
6) Best “Local” Cookie (use a Nova Scotia-sourced ingredient)
7) Best Family Recipe
8) Best Chocolate Lover’s Cookie
9) Best Professional (see FAQs below)
Winners in each category will become Dartmouth Royalty and receive a prize (list TBA).

2. As a TASTER:
***NEW FORMAT THIS YEAR!***
Tasters have one very important job: show up and nab cookies. Unlike previous years, this time taster tickets will be sold at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
– Tickets will be $1 each or 6 for $5
– One ticket gets you one cookie
– Cash only
– Limit of 12 per person
– Sales start at 1pm and go until they’re sold out
There’ll be milk and other refreshments on-hand, and a chance to connect with amazing bakers and judges. We recommend hanging around, noshing on cookies and watching the suspenseful, exciting competition to see if any of your picks win top prize. This year, judging will be under way by the time tasters arrive so you might get to see who wins before making your cookie selections.
All proceeds from taster tickets will cover the costs of supplies first. Any additional proceeds will be donated to one of Grace United Church’s community programs.

Do I have to bring my printed Baker ticket to the event?
Nope! Just memorize your name.
Can I bring my kids?
Please! We have a kids’ table and church volunteers to oversee some activities.
Can I enter more than one cookie in the competition?
Sorry—you can bake as many different kinds as you like, but only one kind can go into the competition per baker.
Can professional bakers enter the competition?
If you make a living baking and/or selling cookies, you must enter the Professional category (new this year).
